It's all over the internet, Mozilla Firefox and sound...not working. Happened to me and it was very frustrating. I searched and found many suggestions...none of them worked except.....
Remove Firefox from the control panel Add-Remove Programs.
Search the Hard Drive for anything related to Firefox and delete (you can restore these later if you want) .
Download Firefox from Firefox.com in your other browser....and re-install. That's it.
